FAQ

How does T9 Nav work?

T9 Nav indexes everything on your device, including contacts, calendar entries, phone settings, music, etc. Then it makes everything it’s found available to you so that you can access anything on your phone by typing the name of whatever you want using one key press per letter – right from the home screen. Why do I see so many search results come up when I dial a phone number?

Multiple results are displayed when you start to dial because T9Nav is matching all possible results to the key presses that you have entered. The more you type, the more you will refine your search. The Results list will then narrow until either your desired result or phone number appears.

T9 Nav stopped working on my device. What do I do?

If you ever turn your phone off, T9 Nav should automatically restart when the phone turns on. You can see if it’s running by looking for the little circle above it in the applications page, as in the image below.

Working

If for some reason it turns off when the phone is on, find the T9 Nav application and click on it to restart. See your phone user manual for instructions for finding the applications page and turning an application back on.

Does T9 Nav come in any languages other than English?

At this time, T9 Nav is available in English, French, Italian, Spanish, German and Portuguese. New language versions are currently being developed.

How do I get one of the other available language versions of T9 Nav?

You must first change the language on your Nokia device (see phone user manual for instructions on how to do this) and then the phone should automatically reboot. T9 Nav will automatically reindex all of the content on the phone in the new language as long as it is one of the currently available T9 Nav languages (see above question).

Will synchronizing my phone with my desktop or other application affect T9 Nav?

Yes, T9 Nav will pick up any updates or changes that happen on the phone, regardless of where they came from.

What if I can’t get the T9 Nav beta file to install on my phone?

Make sure you have the date set correctly on your device in the correct format for that particular device. The T9 Nav beta is set to expire on 2 February 2009 so if the date on your device is not correct you may get an expiration message. Also make sure you are downloading to an S60 3rd edition device, which is the only type of device the T9 Nav beta currently supports. For a complete list of these devices see: http://www.s60.com/life. Finally, if you have a pre-beta or tradeshow version of T9 Nav or a version of T9 Discovery Tool, you must uninstall the old version before installing the new one.

When will the T9 Nav beta expire?

The T9 Nav beta now available for download expires 2 February, 2009. Any download prior to October 31, 2008 has an expiration date of October 31, 2008. Any download from then until 2 February should expire on 2 February, 2009.

What is the latest T9 Nav beta version?

You can view the version currently on your device by going to the Installations or Applications folder on your S60 device, clicking T9 Nav and then selecting Options, About. The latest T9 Nav beta version string is v01.00.00_M13.

Do I have to select the first item in the results list to act on it?

No! You can act on the first item in the results list using the center button. For example, if the top item in the selection list is a contact, if you press the center button, the address book will be opened to that contact.

Are there any shortcuts available in T9 Nav?

Yes, if a contact is highlighted, pressing the green call button will call the default phone number for that contact.
